As part of its ongoing efforts to build effective partnerships with industrial and service sector institutions, Princess Sumaya University for Technology signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Jordan Electric Power Company (JEPCO) to enhance joint cooperation in digital transformation, smart meters, data science, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, to support innovation and technological advancement in Jordan’s energy sector. The MoU was signed by the University’s President, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, and JEPCO’s General Manager, Eng. Hassan Abdullah, in the presence of academics and experts from both sides.
The MoU aims to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including providing training opportunities for university students to align their skills with market needs, especially in the electricity sector. It also seeks to use the university’s expertise to support JEPCO projects in digital systems, smart meter applications, network development, and the use of artificial intelligence in electricity management and operations.
The agreement also promotes the exchange of knowledge, research, and reports, as well as the organization of workshops, conferences, lectures, and research sessions to explore development opportunities and applied research projects. This collaboration will enhance the efficiency of human resources on both sides and help prepare students for the labor market through hands-on training in advanced professional environments.
Prof. Abu Elhaija affirmed that the university seeks to build strategic partnerships with leading national institutions to connect academic education with practical application and support digital transformation in Jordan. She praised the cooperation with JEPCO, noting that it reflects the university’s commitment to excellence in education, research, and innovation.
Eng. Hassan Abdullah expressed his pride in the partnership, praising the university’s competence and the excellence of its students and faculty. He said the cooperation would serve as a model for collaboration between the academic and industrial sectors and emphasized the importance of attracting engineering and technology graduates and supporting student graduation projects in the company’s laboratories.
