Princess Sumaya University for Technology held a graduation ceremony for participants in the Future Engineering Empowerment Learning Program, attended by the Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, H.E. Sami Smeirat, the university’s president, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, Nokia Jordan’s General Manager, Eng. Modar Alzoubi, and Mohamed Samir, Nokia Mobile Networks Vice President for the Middle East.
The program, organized in cooperation with Nokia, included 20 students from the King Hussein School of Computing Sciences and the King Abdullah II School of Engineering, selected based on specific criteria to develop their engineering skills.
The program gave students access to advanced technologies and engineering practices, preparing them for the job market and helping them face future challenges.
Dr. Ammar Odeh, Director of the Consultation and Training Center, highlighted the program's role in empowering young engineers and fostering innovation through partnerships with the industrial sector. He commended the students' dedication, describing them as future leaders and innovators, and expressed pride in their achievements.
Dr. Odeh thanked Nokia and UN Women for their support, emphasizing the university’s commitment to nurturing talent and promoting gender equality in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Eng. Modar Alzoubi, General Manager of Nokia Jordan, thanked the Ministry of Digital Economy for supporting the initiative and expressed pride in collaborating with Princess Sumaya University. He emphasized the importance of fostering innovation through student involvement and partnerships with major tech industries.
Student Leen Bitar, a graduate of the program, highlighted the value of gaining practical experience and applying learned skills in real-world scenarios. She thanked the university, industry leaders, and speakers for their invaluable support.
At the ceremony, University President Prof. Abu Elhaija met with H.E. Eng. Smeirat, General Manager of Nokia Jordan, Eng. Modar Alzoubi, and Nokia's Vice President of Mobile Networks in the Middle East, Mohamed Samir. The meeting focused on future cooperation opportunities. Attendees included Ole Mega Simole, Head of Pricing and Contract Management for Mobile Networks in the Middle East and Africa at Nokia, Prof. Bassam Hammo, Vice President of PSUT, Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Al-Saidi, Advisor to the President for Student Success and Retention, as well as members of the Deans Council and officials from both sides.
