Dr. Al-Tarawneh joined the Department of Communications Engineering at Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) in 2019 and has been serving as the Head of the Communications Engineering Department since September 2019. In 2024, he was promoted to Associate Professor of Communications Engineering at PSUT. He was a Senior/Consultant technical engineer at the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) from 1999 to 2019.Dr. Al-Tarawneh earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC), Illinois, USA, in 2016. He holds an M.Sc. degree in Communications Engineering from the University of Jordan (2008) and a B.Sc. degree in Communications Engineering from Mutah University (1999).In addition to his academic and professional roles, Dr. Al-Tarawneh serves as the Chair of the IEEE Jordan Communications Society (ComSoc) and Signal Processing Society (SPS) Joint Chapter.Dr. Al-Tarawneh’s research interests include optical communication networks, elastic optical networks (EON), access optical networks, radio over fiber technologies, machine learning applications, and wireless communications. His contributions to these fields are driven by a commitment to innovation and the advancement of communication technologies.
