Dr. Zaid Haymoor

Assistant Professor

Zaid Haymoor is an electrical, electronics, embedded systems, and IoT systems researcher. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Swansea University (UK), where his thesis focused on developing smart systems for testing and utilizing indoor photovoltaic generators for energy-harvesting in self-powered IoT. He joined Swansea University as a Postdoctoral Researcher working on advanced energy-harvesting solutions for IoT devices. From 2021 to 2024, he served as a Teaching Assistant at Swansea University, supporting courses such as Signals and Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Microcontrollers, and Nanoscale Simulation. Previously, he was a Teaching and Research Assistant and Lab Engineer at Al-Hussein Technical University (2018–2021). In industry, he co-founded Cyborgs Technology and served as CTO leading end-to-end IoT hardware and software development. His recognitions include the UKRI/SETsquared ICURe Award (2024) and an EPSRC-DTP PhD Scholarship (2021). He holds registered designs for environmental sensors in the UK (2024) and EU (2025) and has published on energy-harvesting PV for self-powered IoT. His research interests include energy-harvesting IoT, low-power wireless sensor networks and LoRaWAN, embedded systems, and indoor PV characterization and utilisation.
